Upper: Zeu’s upper class is composed of all citizens. There were men that had received a secondary level of education and were politicians, philosophers, teachers, and military officers and there were artisans. Artisans were opted not to receive a secondary education; instead of attending a military academy or a university, they began an apprenticeship.
Middle: Women were considered to be above the lower class (slaves) but beneath the upper class. They had no political rights, were not citizens, and were thought to make no meaningful contributions to society other than having children.
Lower: The lower class consisted of slaves. Slaves had been either captured in conflicts or been bought from traders. Owning slaves was a common practice in Zeu; even very poor families owned at least two or three slaves while wealthy families could afford as many as fifty slaves. Slaves had no political rights and could not own property. Other members of lower class included the destitute and homeless.
Other: Children were also outside the social spectrum; boys were not yet old enough to be considered citizens (but would be upper class) and girls would eventually become middle class.
